“When Is Tasha Coming Home?” is a 6 track EP based on the concept on Call Me Unique in a conversation from her inner self. Stories taken from as far back as childhood up to adult age, this EP began as clips from old diary pages that she found. It then evolved into words, thoughts and feelings Call Me Unique has not yet publicly divulged, hoping that audiences find some of the stories healing in a thought provoking way. Touching upon subjects such as imposter syndrome, depression, heartbreak, loneliness and pain whilst also expressing hope, strength, resilience and determination to grow.
This is the most honest and gut-wrenching piece of Unique’s work to date.
From “Assertive”s - a depiction of how love may not be enough to hold onto a relationship, “Pressure” - the pressures of being “the best version of yourself” and society’s idealism of “being a good person”, “Daddy Time” an honest and heartfelt letter to her father, “My Sly Cry” hearing from her younger self about the roads she took towards the creation of “Unique” - her alter ego, “Thank You” a breather from the somber songs to remind everyone of just how grateful “Call Me Unique” is for the good times and finally… “Wordsworth” - the tale of Unique’s car accident and the reality that words have power, ending in a mantra of “wishing you a long existence” to the listener. This whole EP is an honest look into what it took to make and sometimes break this artist into who she is today.
lyrics
All I need is daddy time
Just a bit more daddy time
All I need is daddy time
Listen
You left when I was little
Such a simple little girl
Only wanted some more daddy time
Protection from this world
Since it got a little colder
I kept reaching for your coat
You shrugged me off to see your Caroline
But mommy didn’t know
You were leaving us for her
And for me, I’m inconvenient
A stress to find a place within
A new place you were resting in
A broken bird to carry
And an extra mouth to feed
So you starved me of this daddy time
The earliest thing I believed...
In being next to you
The memory of you smiling as I
Stumble in the room
Very first steps I took to you
And my first breath out of the womb
You cried out to the heavens
Promised that you’d keep me safe
And you were thankful of this blessing of
4 little white lies you told,
That you always love me
Never ever leave me, No
My life meant the world to you
That I was your everything
But not more than her wedding ring
All I need is daddy time
Just a bit more daddy time
All I need is daddy time
Listen
Father’s Day, I guess it’s ‘98
Making cards in class
Teachers trying not to spark a conversation that brings back
The reminder that my gift is silly
No one to give to
No idea of where you are right now
But deep inside I knew
No, you probably don’t miss me
And, oh, why would you care
Heard your wife has some kiddies
You’re being father to them
I’m hysterical, I go home crying again
Jealous of my own sisters
Their daddy visits again
My oldest sister had to hold me
Told me keep my head up
One day your father will own up
To all the that he’s done
1 more little lie unfolds
My father has a son I’m not allowed to get to know
He’s far away cuz daddy dear
He didn’t wanna take the role
And I’m asking for an answer
But the truth never gets told
One day your father will reply
To all the things that you want
One day your father will reply
To all the things that you want
All I need is daddy time
Just a bit more daddy time
All I need is daddy time
Listen
Verse 3, you probably think I found a solution
No more crying nights for daddy, no more living delusional
See, now I can give birth to my own
And raise them with love
Tell them that they’re never alone
Mommy is here
I’ll teach them of the meanings of life
Warn them of the consequences telling big old white lies
Your grandfather was so great
but he’s not here to reply
No, I won’t let them live with hate
Just cause he made mommy cry
Not passing tears through inheritance
No more fears for neglectfulness
They will rise like the Phoenix’s,
Be called greatness and elegance
Will surpass my own legacy
And make little me smile
It’s the perfect conclusion
For this most unwanted child
Dad, this is my last cry out
If you hear this message
I called to talk not shout
I want a resolution, but you have to hear me out
Not listen to reply but hear the words from out my mouth I’m asking
Dad, I tried to call
If you could just pick up
